Sr. Virginia Pierre Feury, O.P. died on Saturday, September 25, 2010 at St. Catherine Health Care Center in Caldwell. She was 84.
A Funeral Mass will be offered in St. Catherine of Siena Convent Chapel,
7 Ryerson Avenue (Mt. St. Dominic) Caldwell on Tuesday at 10AM.
Visiting at St. Catherine Convent, Caldwell on Monday 4 to 8 PM.
Born in Jersey City, Sister entered the Dominican Sisters of Caldwell in 1944 and professed her vows in 1946
Sr. Virginia Pierre was an Elementary School teacher, High School teacher, Principal and very involved in School Forensic activities.
She taught grade school at Holy Spirit School in Asbury Park, Our Lady of Peace School in New Providence, St. Philomena School in Livingston, Nativity School in Midland Park, St. Venantius School in Orange and Our Lady of Lourdes School in Mountainside.
Sister taught at the High School level at St. Mary School in Rutherford, Mt. St. Dominic Academy in Caldwell and Lacordaire Academy in Upper Montclair.
Sister was Principal at St. Peter the Apostle School in Parsippany.
Sister has her BA in Social Studies from Caldwell College and a Masters in American/Asian Studies from Seton Hall University.
Sr. Virginia Pierre was President of the Paterson Diocesan Principals Association, President of the Newark Sisters Senate, President of the Newark Catholic Forensic League, President of the NJ State Forensic League and a member of the Executive Board of the Principals Association.
Sister Virginia Pierre is survived by her brothers Peter Feury and Roger Feury, her nephews Peter T. Feury III, James Feury and her niece Mary Beth Phillips.
