A Note From the Family:

Mr. Robert G. Neff, 80, passed away on Saturday, September 25, 2010. Born in Newark, Mr. Neff grew up in South Orange and lived in Montclair prior to moving to Verona in 1965.

Mr. Neff worked at Verona High School for 30 years, where he taught Latin & English and served as a Guidance Counselor, retiring in 1989. He received his BA from Maryknoll College and an MA from Montclair State University.

He served as President of the Verona Education Association, President of the Essex County Education Association and as a member of the Executive Committee of the NJEA. He also served as an Usher at Our Lady of the Lake Church.

He is predeceased by his parents, Walter & Irene (Cagney) Neff, his brothers Walter & Paul and his sister Nadine McNally. Mr. Neff is survived by his wife of 51 years Elizabeth (Waldron) Neff, his brother Frederick and his children Robert Neff, Jr., and his wife Lynda, Mary Dubois and her husband Robert, Thomas Neff and his wife Susan, and Brian Neff and his wife Cecelia. He is also survived by his grandchildren Tyler, Alexanne, Matthew, Cara, Rachel, Eli, Bobby, and Michael, along with many beloved nieces, nephews & friends.

A Funeral Mass will be offered in Our Lady of the Lake Church, Verona on Wednesday September 29 at 10:30 a.m. Visiting in the PROUT FUNERAL HOME, 370 Bloomfield Ave., Verona on Tuesday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. (www.proutfuneralhome.com). My sincere condolences to the family of Robert Neff. Bob was my English teacher at Verona High School and I have some very good memories of him. Rest in Peace Bob…your contributions to Verona and the many kids you mentored will always be remembered.
